A genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically engineered organism (GEO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These techniques are generally known as recombinant DNA technology. With recombinant DNA technology, DNA molecules from different sources are combined in vitro into one molecule to create a new gene. This DNA is then transferred into an organism and causes the expression of modified or novel traits.

Genetically modified (GM) foods are foods produced from GMO that have had their DNA altered through genetic engineering. GM foods were first put on the market in the early 1990s. The most common modified foods are derived from plants: soybean, corn, canola cotton seed oil and wheat.

The Online Health Food Store - Is It A Good Place To Find All Natural Foods and Health Drinks?

The holiday season was over and the people, their healthy new year resolutions decided if I was certainly a trip to the Mall It was easy to find a parking space in front of what seemed to be the grate health food store in Earth .

With some time to kill, while the woman bought clothing for the exercise, I started a few reading ingredient labels to see what is really at all, the striking looking, low carb food formulas, protein blasters and so-called health drinks. OK, so that sounds really boring, but let me tell you it was an eye opening experience. It really helped me appreciate the natural foods and beverages on the health of my health food shop. Perhaps this little journey to the major health food store in the Mall will help some of the ingredients, the all-than any other natural or healthy, in many of the foods and drinks are sold there.

The first thing I noticed that these big Health food store in the mall really loves to sell the enhanced vitamin water drink. The colourful bottles were stacked high, tempting buyers with low prices, the pretty colors and the dream of a natural health drink that actually tastes good. Well, I have tried some of the "enhanced water", and I thought it not only tasted terrible, but the crystalline fructose (concentrated sugar) content was more than enough junk food in a bottle for me . Oh, and if your body could actually absorb the isolated vitamins infused into the water, then your $ 1.50 worth of food. Isolated vitamins, not at all natural, Whole Foods usually break before the body can for fuel. On my trip to the health food store I could see there were no whole food ingredients in the pretty bottles of enhanced vitamin water beverages.

Here are some other ingredients I saw on the labels that I choose to avoid in the search for healthy , Natural foods and beverages:

  • Crystalline fructose, High Fructose syrup, and basically everything with sugar.
  • artificial Sastoffe, especially aspartame and saccharin. Instead, I use the 0 calories Stevia all natural Sastoff.
  • modified corn starch. Almost all corn grown in the United States is now GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Every time when I see the word "modified" I'm getting suspicious about his true nature.
  • Isolated Proteins - The body is not so easy to digest most of protein drinks, because they are generally "isolated" protein that clogs the lymphatic system. Many athletes in the search for food, work to build up muscles are protein-guzzling drinks without understanding the consequences, or the real needs of the human body. They are seduced by images of washing-board abs and biceps bulging in thinking more protein is good. But many experts agree, it's a myth that everyone needs the high-protein offered in some of today's muscle build-up drink. In fact, all the protein may do more harm than good.

Those are just some of the ingredients, I try to avoid, in my constant quest for all natural health foods and drinks that are really healthy. Are there any ingredients that you ask? I hope you have so much fun reading labels such as I mentioned in the major health food business. Until then, look online for all natural foods and health drinks and remains away from the Mall It's scary!
